Well actually this is the farmer's song (in one of the village) in China, Shan Xi (山溪). I have no idea how the Taiwanese found the song out and produce into TV Show.
Even the AH Pek & Ah Ma inside reading doesn't really know why they are laughing about until the taiwanese told them. The Ah Pek Essence is really from Inner China.
The song is about village people having a simple and happy life. But the sound and meaning of the song was translated into Taiwan chinese / Hokkien had change the way they pronouce (similarity) and mention in the Taiwan essence. that't the way!
